This is to certify that Luke of Mode Creative Homes was engaged as the builder for my home renovation project in June 2014. The project is worth approximately $150,000 and involves Extension of the master bedroom, remodelling of the en-suite and the addition of the new facade at the front of the house.

Luke was recommended to me by Rob Valk of VR Drafting. After receiving three quotes from other very experienced ACT Builders Luke was selected to construct my project. My decision was based on price and excellent referee reports including my wish to support up and coming new and young builders within the local building industry.

Luke is a very enthusiastic builder and the progress of work within the first few weeks was extraordinary and I received very favourable positive comments from my neighbours. During the project there were a few technical issues with regard to construction. This is not unusual for project such as this but Luke managed to resolve these professionally in consultations with the engineer, the certifier and myself the owner.

I found Luke to be very hard working and did his best to accommodate the client's wish within the conditions allowed by the contract. During the construction he managed and supervised subcontractors including one young carpenter and an apprentice. Both of them worked under Luke's supervision and guidance from beginning of the project until completion.

The project was completed as per ACT Home Building contract on budget and on time. My wife and I were satisfied and happy with the end result. We have no hesitation to recommend Luke as a builder for any building work.

When Luke from Mode Creative Homes asked me write a reference I had no hesitation in doing so. I have engaged the services of Luke on two occasions. The first involved an extensive renovation which converting a section of home from a business into a stylish self-contained apartment. The second involved the gutting and rebuild of our kitchen.

Luke was recommended to me by the architect. I sought four quotes and Luke's was very detailed and competitive. Not only that, he identified important structural issues which had been missed by the others and spent time with us discussing his costings. Working with Luke was a very positive experience. He is ethical, efficient, always courteous, polite, well presented, patient and professional. Importantly Luke is a very good communicator. We always knew when he would be on site. We were continually updated on the progress of the build and notified about any changes to cost estimates or timeframes in advance. Most importantly, Luke is an excellent builder.

We are very pleased with the outcome. Luke did much of the work himself and also engaged quality subcontractors. He has created a beautiful and elegant home for my mother who now lives independently next to us, and also helped transform our kitchen into a vastly superior space which we thoroughly enjoy.

We engaged Luke from Mode Creative Homes in 2017 to undertake an extension and renovation of our house in Hackett. He was recommended to us by our draftsman, Chris Shepherdson of Personal Design Architecture.

From the outset Luke was polite, knowledgeable and friendly. He was very patient throughout the quoting stage, explaining everything in full to us as first-time renovators. The project included: Front Extension and remodel of existing house, new ensuite bathroom, remodel of laundry and main bathroom, new roof, new electrical throughout and new windows throughout.

The work was totalled around $300,000. As it was such a large project we had to move out and we only had access to a rental property for 5 months - much shorter than the 7 months Luke estimated for the build but he knew the situation we were in and managed to get us back into the house in 5 months - we were very grateful for this.

One thing that impressed us was Luke's ability to communicate well throughout the build - updating us on progress, issues or concerns as they arose. Luke is very hardworking and with a great team of apprentices, quality carpenters and contractors behind him. He was always willing to answer any questions we had and often went above and beyond to get the job done.

The project was completed on time, on budget and to a very high standard. We would highly recommend Luke and Mode Creative Homes.

We engaged Mode Creative Homes to construct an extension for our home. The project involved adding a master bedroom, ensuite, walk-in-robe and rumpus room. In addition, the living, dining and kitchen were completely renovated.

My pregnant wife and our two children lived in the house while Luke and his team undertook the construction. They were conscientious of our family and Luke demonstrated good communication skills throughout the process, keeping us informed of the latest developments.

Luke worked hard to complete the build by the agreed timeframe and within budget. This was achieved by effectively managing contractors and working multiple weekends to get the job done. Luke was able to come up with solutions when complexities were encountered with integrating the new extension with the existing 40 year old house.

We decided to renovate our nearly 20 year old house to modernise it for the next 20 years. The renovation was an extension and a complete internal redo.

We chose Luke, Mode Creative Homes, after undergoing a tender process and evaluating 4 different building companies. Our biggest fear when we started the process was that we would get caught with unplanned cost variations, however when we went through Luke’s proposal and discussed with him what we wanted to achieve, it became very clear to us that Luke's approach to our build was to be completely open and transparent.
